Henrietta The Dragon Slayer, A short film

Brand new adventures of Henrietta The Dragon Slayer and her friends…

ACTION ADVENTURE. FRIENDSHIP. MONSTER FIGHT.

A short film of adventure fantasy: magic, friendship and a chimera monster fight. Not a damsel in distress. This heroine saves the day.

In a desolate high desert battlefield, Franc, a knight far from home, vanishes after being plagued by nightmares. His friend and a valiant, decorated war veteran, Henrietta discovers clues that lead her to a treacherous cliffside cave and a menacing chimera. Henrietta confronts the creature to rescue Franc, but can’t succeed with force alone. She must trust in her magical necklace if she wants to have a fighting chance.

Now accepting charitable donations!

We are currently in the pre-production phase of our film and are aiming to raise a total of $20,000 to bring our vision to life, ideally by July 15, 2024, as we’re planning to shoot our film soon.

The Henrietta The Dragon Slayer short film is for teens and adults who love stories about women warriors. That includes women and girls and those that support them in their desire for empowerment. All of us, including young women, need to see positive role models and someone who cares about her friends and will do the brave move to save them.

We’re closer to making our dream of boosting female representation in fantasy films a reality!

Since I was a girl… I’ve been reading, watching, and writing fantasy fiction, and have struggled to find female protagonists who go on heroic adventures.

I’m excited to announce that we now accept charitable donations for our short film, Henrietta The Dragon Slayer in collaboration with BAVC Media (A 501(c)(3) charitable organization).

We already raised $4000 with a successful kickstarter, raising 800% over our goal. This covers our production costs (costumes and props); our equipment rentals (all the behind-the-scenes equipment!); and shooting insurance. (Gotta be safe on set!)

Now we’re on our way to raise the rest of the budget to get to $20,000 for our San Francisco Bay Area independent film with a diverse crew, many of whom got their filmmaking start at the wonderful film program for girls and nonbinary youth called Reel Stories, where they’ve become staff members.

Let’s pull together and show the true power of women.

Help us reach our goal of $16,000 by July 15, 2024!

Your support will help us pay for the location and for all the crew and actors during our 3-day shoot, and for Crafty – gotta feed the crew! Thanks!

We have a few spots for Associate Producer support at $1,000 and above.

Get the opportunity to make a film and shape our culture so we make sure to give you a Producer credit in the film.

We can now accept charitable donations via our fiscal sponsor, BAVC (the Bay Area Video Coalition.) BAVC has 501(c)(3) status.

Contact Beth Barany if you need proof of this.

We’d love your support!

FAQ

Q: How long is your film?

A: We plan to make this a 10-minute film, a short film in industry parlance.

Q: Where will you film this project?

A: We plan to film at a park in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Q: How do I contact you with a question?

A: Email me via a form here or email me directly: BETH at BETHBARANY dot COM.

Q: When will the film come out and how do we watch it?

A: We’re aiming for a Summer 2025 release. We plan to show the film online and at film festivals. Stay in touch with our news by following our project on Instagram.

Q: What are other ways to donate? The ways you provided don’t work for me.

A: Thanks for asking. Sometimes PayPal won’t accept direct donations (New Zealand may not work, I heard.) So try my donation page on Kofi: https://ko-fi.com/bethbarany. That ways seems to work when the above way doesn’t. Then be sure to email me so I can make sure you get all the film goodies for your donation level.

Q: My employer has a matching fund program. Can I use that?

A: Yes, we can receive matching funds! Thanks! As we’re now able to take charitable donations due to the support of  BAVC Media (A 501(c)(3) charitable organization), you and your company can donate here: Direct link to our fiscal sponsor, BAVC.
